FCP 101: Introduction to Final Cut Pro X


This three-day, hands-on training course will teach you to perform key video editing functions, whilst you familiarise yourself with the the new ’smart’  user interface of FCP X, which has been designed to streamline many of the editing tasks, allowing you to focus on what you do best – the job of story-telling.

You will start by learning basic video editing techniques and work all the way through Final Cut Pro’s powerful advanced features. You’ll also work with dramatic real-world media to learn the practical techniques used daily in editing projects.

  • How to apply effects, transitions and re-time clips
  • Performing finishing and producing final output


This course covers the requirements to become an Apple Certified Pro, Final Cut Pro X Level One. The exam can be taken on the afternoon of the last day of the course or later on one of our Apple Exam Sessions

Apple Authorised Training

  • This is an Apple Authorised course. The price includes the core text and the examination voucher fee. The exam session begins at approximately 3:00 pm on the final afternoon.
  • A pass in the exam leads to Apple Certified Pro, Level One in Final Cut Pro X.
  • More details are on the Apple website

Attending the course:

  • The course starts at 9:30 am on the first day and 9:00 am on subsequent days. Each day finishes at 5:00 pm.
  • We're open from 8:30 am for coffee, papers and magazines and WIFI. 
  • Important things like great coffee, tea, water, biscuits, mints and lunch are provided. 
  • The course takes place in our Apple training suite so there's no need to bring anything with you

Our Prices

  • The price published is fully inclusive of the core text and the examination fee. 
  • We don't charge VAT (we're part of Leeds  Metropolitan University so our courses are zero rated)
