Employer Engagement in Higher Level Skills
You are warmly invited by the West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network (WYLLN) Leadership, Management, Innovation and Enterprise sector group to this FREE, half day event on employer engagement in the Higher Skills agenda. It will provide an opportunity to find out about three innovative curriculum development projects, funded by the sector group and delivered by the University of Leeds’ Lifelong Learning Centre. Green IT Mini Conference
Green IT is gaining momentum, and already organisations are reporting a skills gap around areas such as the implementation of virtualisation and the building of a Green IT infrastructure. In response to the growing discussion facing Green IT, Old Broadcasting House hosted a Green IT mini conference on Monday 18th January. The day included guest speakers from Helen Harrop (Digital 20/20), Colin Coghill (formerly University of Leeds) and Leeds Met’s Innovation North Professor Colin Pattinson. The three main questions posed were, what does “green” really mean? Why be Green? How to be Green? Each was discussed in 15 minute presentations and a debate with the speaker panel. (more…)

Shaping the Digital Future
Take part in a live experiment, testing out cutting edge digital technology on offer at the University of Leeds event ‘Shaping the Digital Future’. This networking event will take place on Tuesday 15th September, from 10.00 - 16.30 at the University of Leeds.
Over the next 3 years the UK government is investing £120 million into researching and developing digital technology. The University is hosting a day of debate and presentation by leading academics and industry key players in order to spark ideas for new collaborations.
Delegates from the healthcare, medical imaging, transport, computing and other sectors are invited to attend the digital event. The keynote presentation will be from Leeds alumnus Dr Tim O’Donoghue, Vice President Engineering for EU and Canada for Yahoo!
As well as presentation from leading experts in artifical intelligence and computational systems there will be ample opportunities for networking and the opportunity to take part in a live experiment.

Quadrangle highlights new angles for business
On Wednesday 29 April, over 60 people from a variety of businesses across the north visited nti Leeds to find out about new and exciting ways to develop their products and their business.
Quadrangle brought together the 4 West Yorkshire Universities, 4iP, the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), Business Link and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) to provide businesses with key information about current funding and partnership opportunities in the region. (more…)

Award-Winning Success for Coworkers!
Web and graphic design agency, Creode, one of our Innovation Showcase members, have been named as the winner of the University of Leeds‘ annual business plan competition. James Hannaford (22) and Luke Harrison (21) founded Creode, which provides the full gamut of branding, design and web services, following graduation in the summer of 2008.
