Expo 2010
Leeds Metropolitan University’s, Innovation North - Faculty of Information & Technology is delighted to invite you to the 15th anniversary of the annual showcase of undergraduate student work in the areas of:
- Multimedia, Games & Animation
This will provide you with the opportunity to view innovative student work and meet the people behind it through a series of exhibitions, presentations and performances.
The showcase will be held on Thursday 13th May 2010 with daytime viewings, 2.00pm - 4.30pm, and evening viewings, 5.00pm - 8.00pm at James Graham, Headingley Campus, LS6 3PS.

Tender for Digital Marketing Campaign
Screen Yorkshire has a tender opportunity to deliver a digital marketing campaign for the cross region project NorthernNet. The tender deadline is open now, with a closing date of noon on Friday 22nd January 2010.
The outline of the objectives for the campaign are:
- To raise awareness of the NorthernNet brand across the North of England within the digital and creative industries and related media channels
- Devise and buy a web media campaign to market and raise awareness of the NorthernNet brand across the creative and digital industry as a whole
- Devise and buy a web media campaign to market and raise awareness of the NorthernNet brand with key digital and creative sectors e.g. animation, music etc.
- Generate excitement and engagement in the opportunities available from the NorthernNet innovations and collaborations project within the creative and digital industries
- Promote the use of the media access bureaus (physical access to the NorthernNet system in venues across the North) and the role NorthernNet infrastructure plays in delivering competitive advantage to key sector SMEs

Echochroma V
Echochroma will be presenting an evening of electroacoustic music from 5pm on Monday 14th December.
Leeds Met Headingley Campus will be hosting the concert in the Jubilee Room, James Graham Building. Featured guest composers include Manuella Blackburn (MANTIS, Manchester University) and Dale Perkins (Leeds College of Music). Leeds Met Innovation North staff will also perform music, including Adam Stansbie, Nikos Stavropoulos and Stephen Kilpatrick.
All music will be performed using a 16-channel surround-sound diffusion system. This event has limited space so please arrive early to find an available seat.

Expo Leeds Unconference
The first Expo Leeds unconference for sound art and experimental music launched at Old Broadcasting House on 25 September to kick off the Expo Leeds weekend festival. The unconference explored exciting, ground-breaking, experimental practices in music and sound creation, including digital technologies, research and live demos, with speakers coming from around the world. Discussions sparked questions from the wide range of people in attendance to find out more about what™s new in the world of creative sound. (more…)

A Evening With Ableton Live!
Now in its 7th year Ableton Live! is growing in popularity as an audio tool that a sound engineer, musician, producer, sound recordist or web designer can use to produce unique and engaging sounds and music that differ from the norm.
Paul Key (drummer ex Good Die Young, support slots with The Charlatans, The Twang, Proud Mary) took his audience on Tuesday 25th November, on a tour of Ableton’s strengths in different environments from DJing to live performance and standard studio production. (more…)
