BBC at Old Broadcasting House - 2nd August
On Monday 2nd August nti Leeds will be welcoming the BBC back to Old Broadcasting House for their exciting recruitment event. They are looking for 11 people to take part in a great BBC experience with Children In Need, working with every local radio station in the North and getting a foot in the door for BBC jobs coming up in the next few months.
Guests will have the chance to polish up their CV, get to grips with the new BBC North jobs website and be helped towards being in the best possible position to bag a job with the BBC

The end of an era
Tuesday 6th July 2010 may have gone unnoticed by many people as just another Tuesday (apologies to those for whom it’s a major anniversary!), but for the development of Digital Britain it was something of a milestone.
This date is when it became officially impossible to buy a new analogue TV set from a UK retailer. With the final analogue TV switch-off scheduled for 2012, clearly the change had to come some time and apparently last month (June) no sale of an analogue TV took place anywhere in the UK. (more…)

Girl Geek Dinner Leeds - 13/05/2010
We’re very pleased to announce the second of this years Leeds Girl Geek Dinners which will take place on Thursday 13th May at the City Inn, a swanky new waterfront hotel in Granary Wharf Leeds. The evening will start with networking at 7.30pm-10.30pm.
The evening speakers will include Joscelyn Upendran, the co-founder and CEO of lovle which is a learning and training software & services company. She is also involved in Creative Commons UK as the Public Project Lead for England & Wales, which involves raising awareness about Creative Commons. Prior to this, Joscelyn worked as a commercial lawyer in private practice for a number of years before she commenced a career in higher and further education, training lawyers, accountants and mangers. TechMesh Launches
IT professionals and telecom organisations enjoyed food, fizz and jazz at The Loft last week. TechMesh held the first of a brand new network event for more than 100 attendees that heard from internet guru Marco Potesta, and Orange Business Development Head, Conrad Poulson.

Leeds Girl Geek Dinner 6 - 11/02/10
We are super-pleased to announce the first of this year’s series of Leeds Girl Geek Dinners, starting on Thursday 11th February, hosted at Leeds’ hottest new waterfront hotel, the City Inn, on Granary Wharf in Holbeck Urban Village.
It will see the first in a series of collaborations between Girl Geek Dinners Scotland, Leeds Girl Geeks and supported by UKRC. Speakers for the evening will be Shanna Tellerman, Founder and CEO of Sim Ops Studios, and Kaye Elling, who has over 12 years of expertise in the games industry. The hugely successful breakfast networking event is to be held by Leeds Chamber Networking Breakfast on Thursday 4th February at 7.30am - 9.30am. The morning attracts a wide range of business backgrounds and more than one hundred attendees each month.

nti Works is a programme run by nti Leeds lasting approximately three months, designed to help new graduates get started as freelancers in the digital sector. The programme consists of some core training that has been specially designed to help you get started, as well as providing a virtual training account which enables enrollment on to courses from the nti schedule - see www.ntileeds.co.uk/training.
nti is pleased to announce the launch of the January Programme 2010! If successful in applying, you will be assigned a mentor to help you plan your professional development and you will also become a sponsored member of our pioneering coworking space at Old Broadcasting House, which will enable you to work alongside current members. During the time you are here you will be encouraged to get involved in the Leeds grass roots community, attending meetups, coffee events and evening presentations depending on your particular area of specialism (for example Open Coffee Leeds, Creative Networks, GeekUp Leeds, Barcamps, Hackspace etc) to start building your network of contacts which will be crucial to getting started. Open Coffee Mornings
If you’re working in the creative or digital industries, Old Broadcasting House will be opening it’s doors for you to come hang out, chat, demo or just network with others… usually around 25-30 people each month… sometimes more.
Tea, coffee and cakes are available from about 10am until 12pm. You are more than welcome to stay and chat as long as you like! This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people within the creative, digital industries and network in a relaxed and friendly environment. Feel free to come along, Open Coffee is held on the first Tuesday of every month.

Enterprise Europe Yorkshire
Enterprise Europe Yorkshire will be investigating further the innovation capabilities of business over the next coming months. As a result there are five FREE events scheduled for Leeds at the Round Foundry Media Centre and the Novotel Hotel. Each one will ask the following questions:

Expo Leeds Unconference
The first Expo Leeds unconference for sound art and experimental music launched at Old Broadcasting House on 25 September to kick off the Expo Leeds weekend festival. The unconference explored exciting, ground-breaking, experimental practices in music and sound creation, including digital technologies, research and live demos, with speakers coming from around the world. Zend PHP 5: Certification
The Zend PHP 5 Certification training course prepares experienced PHP programmers for the challenge of passing the PHP 5 certification exam and achieving the status of Zend Certified Engineer (ZCE). This is a test preparation and PHP review course. The content covers key information about the exam and strategies for answering the exam questions, in addition to providing an in-depth review of the twelve certification topic areas. Participants are challenged to test their knowledge with focused quizzes and a practice exam. The course moves at a fast pace, and assumes at least an intermediate skill level in programming within PHP.
