Green IT
Green IT is gaining momentum – but it is an area that is complicated by misinformation, tokenism (or ‘greenwashing’) from manufacturers/service providers and misperceptions among end users. At the moment the key driver for most organisations is cost saving, although the UK public sector has published carbon reduction targets for 2012 and 2020. Private sector enterprise now also has to make the choice between meeting carbon reduction targets or paying fines. (more…)

Why not come and visit us here at Old Broadcasting House, 148 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds LS2 9EN. If you are driving, the nearest car park is the Woodhouse Lane NCP multi storey found at LS1 3HQ. Please be aware that the opening hours are 7am to 9pm Monday to Saturday.
If you are driving to an evening event here, you are advised not to park at the NCP as if you return after 9pm, your car will be locked in. Free parking is available afer 4:30 pm on weekdays opposite Old Broadcasting House at the Leeds Met and Leeds University staff car parks. (more…)

Postgraduate Study Opportunities
Leeds Metropolitan’s Innovation North Faculty is offering some exciting Creative & Digital Postgraduate Study for January 2010. These include Music Technology, Sound Design, Games Design, Computing Animation, Digital Video & Special Effects, Creative Technology and Information Systems.

Leeds Met Launch New Business Website
Leeds Met has launched its new website Business, Enterprise, & Innovation Services, to showcase its offer to businesses. Visitors to the site will find a range of offerings that draw on expertise from across the University, such as consultancy, knowledge transfer partnerships and research. Case Studies are also featured, which allow you to view examples of how organisations have already worked with Leeds Met.

Throughout the week, Old Broadcasting House has hosted over 600 Leeds Met Innovation North third year students for the annual Innovation Camp. The week has attracted a variety of industry connections including award winning specialist digital agency MadeByPi who work with leading brands including Sony, Hallmark, ASDA and First Direct. Twestival
On Thursday 12th February, new social networking site Twitter started running it’s new worldwide festival event called Twestival in more than 175 cities around the world. Organised by volunteers in each city, ranging from Beijing and Sydney to Capetown and Lisbon, Twestival allowed the Twitter community to socialise offline and enjoy food, drink and entertainment, whilst also raising money and awareness for ‘charity:water’ that was highlighted by Jeff Allen.
