To housekeep or not to housekeep?

It is quite common to see IT services being sold on the basis of unlimited supply of some resource – the current favourite seems to be email storage. At last, an end to the inconvenience of being barred from sending new email unless your stored email remains below some level, which is arbitrary and clearly insufficient for your needs. Of course, the “inbox full” popup always appears at the most inconvenient time, so what could be better than providing more space, keeping everyone happy. In a world of unlimited storage, where the cost per byte of storage is so low, what other solution could make sense? (more…)

Expo 2010

Leeds Metropolitan University’s, Innovation North  - Faculty of Information & Technology is delighted to invite you to the 15th anniversary of the annual showcase of undergraduate student work in the areas of:

- Music, Sound & Performance

- Multimedia, Games & Animation

- Computing & IT

This will provide you with the opportunity to view innovative student work and meet the people behind it through a series of exhibitions, presentations and performances.

The showcase will be held on Thursday 13th May 2010 with daytime viewings, 2.00pm - 4.30pm, and evening viewings, 5.00pm - 8.00pm at James Graham, Headingley Campus, LS6 3PS.

nti Works January Programme 2010

nti Works is a programme run by nti Leeds lasting approximately three months, designed to help new graduates get started as freelancers in the digital sector. The programme consists of some core training that has been specially designed to help you get started, as well as providing a virtual training account which enables enrollment on to courses from the nti schedule - see www.ntileeds.co.uk/training.

nti is pleased to announce the launch of the January Programme 2010! If successful in applying, you will be assigned a mentor to help you plan your professional development and you will also become a sponsored member of our pioneering coworking space at Old Broadcasting House, which will enable you to work alongside current members. During the time you are here you will be encouraged to get involved in the Leeds grass roots community, attending meetups, coffee events and evening presentations depending on your particular area of specialism (for example Open Coffee Leeds, Creative Networks, GeekUp Leeds, Barcamps, Hackspace etc) to start building your network of contacts which will be crucial to getting started.
