Learning Blender with us is a fun and exciting way to reduce the time it takes you to understand Blender and give some extremely valuable insights into areas which you never would have attempted.

The amazing thing about Blender is its “freedom of use policy”. In other words, the software is free; which is simply staggering when you consider that the 3D software vendors charge upwards of £4000,00 for their software.

Leeds Metropolitan University’s, Innovation North  - Faculty of Information & Technology is delighted to invite you to the 15th anniversary of the annual showcase of undergraduate student work in the areas of:

- Music, Sound & Performance

- Multimedia, Games & Animation

- Computing & IT

This will provide you with the opportunity to view innovative student work and meet the people behind it through a series of exhibitions, presentations and performances.

The showcase will be held on Thursday 13th May 2010 with daytime viewings, 2.00pm - 4.30pm, and evening viewings, 5.00pm - 8.00pm at James Graham, Headingley Campus, LS6 3PS.

Gen Up North is the unique training programme from TRC Media aimed at emerging digital creatives in the North of England. It is designed for graduates or those new to the industry who have a real talent for creating digital content across platforms. (more…)

Screen Yorkshire has a tender opportunity to deliver a digital marketing campaign for the cross region project NorthernNet. The tender deadline is open now, with a closing date of noon on Friday 22nd January 2010.

The outline of the objectives for the campaign are:

- To raise awareness of the NorthernNet brand across the North of England within the digital and creative industries and related media channels

- Devise and buy a web media campaign to market and raise awareness of the NorthernNet brand across the creative and digital industry as a whole

- Devise and buy a web media campaign to market and raise awareness of the NorthernNet brand with key digital and creative sectors e.g. animation, music etc.

- Generate excitement and engagement in the opportunities available from the NorthernNet innovations and collaborations project within the creative and digital industries

- Promote the use of the media access bureaus (physical access to the NorthernNet system in venues across the North) and the role  NorthernNet infrastructure plays in delivering competitive advantage to key sector SMEs

Leeds Metropolitan’s Innovation North Faculty is offering some exciting Creative & Digital Postgraduate Study for January 2010. These include Music Technology, Sound Design, Games Design, Computing Animation, Digital Video & Special Effects, Creative Technology and Information Systems. 

The aim is to challenge and support clients through projects derived from industry connections including staff, who are themselves practising creative technologists. (more…)

On Tuesday 8th December from 6.30pm till late, Animated Yorkshire will be hosting an event at the Leeds College of Art to discuss what does make a great animated music video?

Ashley Dean from Broken Pixel Animation will talk about his ideas of how music and animation can come together to show of your work. All are welcomed to join in, so bring along your favourite animated music video to discuss. (more…)

On Thursday 17th September from 6.30 - 8.30pm, Animated Yorkshire will host an Animation Showcase at Old Broadcasting House , including a screening of the short film “Sounds Like Bradford”, with an opportunity to find out more from the animators involved in this production for Bradford City of Film. 6 animators were given just 15 seconds of a soundscape of Bradford, and each asked to interpret it in their own unique way.
