Yorkshire Post Fame
New business venture Open Source for Business better known as OS4B, has once again been projected into the Yorkshire region with a spread in the Yorkshire Post entitled ˜Technology Opening the Way for Business Opportunities’.
In the light of the current economic downturn, Open Source is bringing a much needed discussion to the table with the view to saving money and resource. The article discussed the growing value and importance of understanding the role it can play in the business environment. At the launch of the Digital Britain Report, questions were raised about the lack of emphasis placed on the use of the mythical free software, even when during February of this year the government announced that commercial and open-source software use will be considered as equal.
A joint venture between Yorkshire Forward and nti Leeds, OS4B is designed to help regional businesses make the most of Open Source technologies. At the heart of OS4B is a centre of excellence for Open Source and is reflected in the quick up take and professionalism Programme Manager, Geoff Gifford has brought, to target a gap in the commercial market.
