Stefan Debattista Launches Superscout
Leeds Metropolitan University BSc (Hons) Computing graduate, Stefan Debattista, has successfully set up his own start-up business that hopes to become one of the most used online careers site for both young professionals and employers.
Described as a good salesman and having the ‘gift of the gab’, Stefan has secured funds to setup Superscout. Throughout this time, nti Leeds has provided the moral support that Stefan has needed to bring him to where he is now.
Stefan is now looking for input from both creative & digital industry professionals and gradautes looking for work in the sector. Register online at www.superscout.com and for further details with your feedback get in touch via the contact page.
In a bid to find out more about the project, I interviewed Stefan to see what he had to say:
Q. Why have you chosen to setup Superscout?
A. I chose to start Superscout because when I was using job sites to secure my placement job at University, I was unimpressed by the browsing experience. I decided that a social network experience to support the job hunting experience would improve things by working hand in hand. The basic idea is that a candidate can setup a profile which can take as little as 3 minutes, and then follow companies to receive news and automatic job updates on your Superscout Wall.
Q. Has there been much interest in the project from candidates and industry professionals so far?
A. Yes, indeed there has! Generally we find companies are more than happy to register with us - although we are taking it one step at a time because it is so important to measure the metrics of the site before shouting too loud about it. We are constantly improving the site instead of shouting about it too much and then realise we should have improved a part of the process before.
Currently we are re-designing the home page based on input from people we have spoken to. We are encouraging everyone to join the network because early adopters will be rewarded.
Q. Is Superscout doing what it aimed to do?
A. We are currently working on building the community of employers and candidates, not just graduates, but our target is young professionals in the digital space. Superscout has already received its first application which wasn’t planned. The candidate will then be interviewed this week. We encourage people who register to add Superscout to their career network.
Superscout aims to keep candidate’s privacy using a Private feature that is proving a great hit! I don’t even know who our developers are on the site because of the way we have created the anonymous profiles.
Q. What kind of traffic is the website currently getting?
A. Well, we are still in very early days, this is my very first “interview” about Superscout - so compared to most established websites we still have a very long road ahead of us, but the site has received a total of almost 1,500 page views since we soft launched last week. There are also close to 100 digital jobs on the site already!
Q. What do you hope the future brings through Superscout?
A. I hope that every company, small or large, creates their Free Employer profile on the site and that we change the way people job hunt online. We really want to make a difference in the world, we want job hunting to be a pleasure not a frustrating experience!
