New ‘Inspiring Women’ project launches

nti Leeds is pleased to announce that Girl Geek Dinners Leeds (managed through a partnership of nti Leeds, Carbon Imagineering and Kilo75) and Girl Geek Scotland will be working together with partners to develop a series of new inspirational podcasts for young women in education aspiring to a career in the Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) industries.

It is with thanks to the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET and the West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network, who have provided the funding for this project, that we will be able to look at the challenges facing women working in the SET industries and create case studies of women who have achieved great things and made a real impact. The podcasts and assocaited learning materials will then be made available to higher and further education institutions across West Yorkshire to encourage young female learners.

The project was inspired by comments from Gillian Arnold of IBM at the ‘Women into Leadership‘ event held at the Leeds Met Rose Bowl in June, who highlighted the importance of strong female role models in inspiring young women in education to pursue a career in the SET industries.

The new project will be launched at the next Leeds Girl Geek Dinner on Wednesday 21st October. To find out more about the project contact leia@ntileeds.co.uk
