JAMES Music Media Conference 2009

Leeds Metropolitan University's Innovation North Faculty, the Regional University Network and Joint Audio Media Education Services (JAMES) hosted a wide and varied panel of music industry experts at the recent Music & Media Conference 2009.

Industry professionals, educators, students and staff enjoyed a programme of master-classes, seminars, workshops, product demonstrations and lectures from a host of industry experts including Island Studios' Tony Platt, academic expert Sam Bennett, mixing engineer George Shilling and music master Mandy Parnell.

The conference was also an opportunity for the launch of two new postgraduate courses - MA Audio Post Production and MA Music for the Moving Image. Barbara Colledge, Dean of Innovation North, highlighted the benefits that these new awards will bring to students and employers alike:

"Our strong links with industry, such as Pinewood Studios and JAMES, together with developments in the North, including the BBC's relocation to Salford, provide opportunities to engage with creative sectors in the region. These courses provide opportunities for employers to retain and develop the creative skills and talent of the next generation of industry professionals."
