Innovation in a Recession Symposium
On Tuesday 23 June over 60 delegates were encouraged to define the key issues for Yorkshire & Humber businesses and come up with innovative ideas and pitches to deliver cost savings, efficiencies and bigger profits in their own workplaces. The symposium on ‘Innovation in a Recession’ at nti Leeds was led by Herman Gyr and Laszlo Gyorffy from Enterprise Development Group (EDG) in Silicon Valley who brought a wealth of experience to the table to show delegates how powerful innovation can be, even in the current economic climate. The event was supported by Leeds Metropolitan University and CIDA International, the Creative Industries Development Agency.
Combining theory and practical workshop sessions, the day delivered highly original thinking and guidance in the field of innovation to promote action among delegates that would have real impact for their own businesses. Using the Co-Star methodology from EDG delegates split into groups to develop pitches to the rest of the audience that would create measurable change for Yorkshire and Humber businesses. Delegates heralded the day as ‘inspiring’, ‘impressive’, ‘thought-provoking’ and were excited by ‘practical tools I can take away and use’.
nti Leeds will be working with the West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network and CIDA International to explore opportunities for additional practical sessions in the future. To find out more about the symposium or to see materials from the day please contact ruth@cida.org
