Innovation Bank Focus Group
On Wednesday 28th January, Old Broadcasting House hosted a get-together of employers and final year Innovation North students to gather feedback on the future direction of Innovation Bank, a new web application currently under development at nti.
The projects aim is to make it possible for employers and practitioners in the sector to engage with final year students - and in particular their project work. The web app aims to do this in a flexible manner, supporting input from a mentoring, employer or client perspective. We were pleased to welcome representatives from Kilo75, MadeByPi, Carbon Imagineering, Zolv, Kensei Media, Virtual Construction and Chapter Eight.
The newly launched Leeds Met Student Radio Station, MetAir joined in by recording the event for podcast download that you can listen to at www.metairleeds.co.uk
Linda Broughton (Head of nti) and Stephen Griffin (Level 3 Web Developer) introduced the ideas behind the site, outlining the values, application and future prospects. There followed a lively discussion of how the app might be developed, potential user journeys, roles and motivations for use. Our guests had a range of views as to how they might engage with the app, ranging from mentoring and providing feedback to students, submitting projects for students to work on and evaluating their performance with a view to employment, talent spotting for potential start up were just some of these.
Plenty to reflect on and lots of work to do before the app is ready for new final students in September. It will be on display at the final year show in May. Thanks to everyone who offered to get more involved in helping Stephen in his development. If you would like to know more please get in touch with us using the form below.
