After a wholesome meal of mango curry and fruit salad for dessert, Lucy Wurstlin took to the stage to talk about the new Channel 4 project, 4ip Yorkshire. Clearly and concisely presented made for good questions from the audience who wanted a part of the 10 MILLION POUNDS up for grabs for new ideas to improve public services. Lucy was keen to highlight that every project is treated differently, and as a result, every response is unique to meeting the guidelines. If you have an idea and are keen to get involved, now is the time to get onboard! To join the regional network visit http://whippetonthewire.ning.com/profile/lucyWurstlin.
Next up was Emma McGrattan, the Senior Vice President of Engineering at Ingres. Emma talked about her background in leading the way for Open Source in Business and the high's and low's of gender generalisations. The lack of women in Information Technology proved to make interesting discussion as to why that was, how can it be changed and observed differences between male and women programming.
