Another Award Nomination for Creode

Award-winning web design company, Creode, have been shortlisted for ˜University Spin-out of the Year™ in the prestigious Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business awards. The award, sponsored by O2, comes just weeks after Creode™s 1st birthday celebrations and hopes to be their second award of the year.

Created by James Hannaford and Luke Harrison, both 22, this young innovative company has proved how even new graduates can buck the trend in the current economic climate. Since graduating last year, James and Luke have nurtured a growing business, winning the Leeds University Business Plan Award within the early months, and going on to record profits exceeding planned estimations.

Creode spent their first year of business working from the Leeds Met™s coworking space at Old Broadcasting House, supported by nti Leeds, part of the Innovation North Faculty.  This shared space is designed to nurture collaboration and innovation in the digital sector by encouraging networking and peer support.  Due to unprecedented growth in their first year the Creode team has now expanded and moved to larger offices at Queen™s Square.

Luke comments “Leeds Met provided us with invaluable facilities for starting up a new business. The support from members of staff at nti Leeds and other coworkers was fantastic and the access to equipment and different areas of Old Broadcasting House allowed us to progress the business substantially during our first year. I would urge anyone starting a new business or that is self-employed to consider the many benefits that coworking can bring to your working day.”

Tickets are now on sale for the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards ceremony, which takes place at the Queens Hotel in Leeds on Friday 16 October. Jon Culshaw, the celebrated impressionist, will be master of ceremonies and the keynote speaker will be the Schools Minister Ed Balls.
