Lovebytes - Festival of Digital Creativity and Culture
Lovebytes has returned to Sheffield in 2010 with a cultural festival for the digital age. The Museums Sheffield:Millennium Gallery forms the hub for a programme of special events between January and June 2010. A season of extraordinary events is taking place at some of Sheffield’s landmark venues and public spaces.
Lovebytes explores the creative impact of computers, new technology and digital culture. The theme for Lovebytes 010 is ‘digital craft’, looking at creative digital culture in context of traditional art and craft.
Exhibitions include Code:Craft that will have a special late opening on 12th February as part of Sonic Materialities, an evening of spectacular sound and light installations in the Winter Garden and the Millennium Gallery. These events are free, open to anyone and family friendly.
Valentine’s weekend also sees the beginning of scheduled talks and workshops. We Love Technology at Electric Works on 12th February, is to offer 10 informal presentations by leading artists, designers and technologists from around the world. Places are limited so please book in advance. There is also an extensive programme of creative workshops and activities for people of all ages starting in February half-term.
