Leeds Girl Geek Dinner 6 - 11/02/10


We are super-pleased to announce the first of this year’s series of Leeds Girl Geek Dinners, starting on Thursday 11th February, hosted at Leeds’ hottest new waterfront hotel, the City Inn, on Granary Wharf in Holbeck Urban Village.

It will see the first in a series of collaborations between Girl Geek Dinners Scotland, Leeds Girl Geeks and supported by UKRC. Speakers for the evening will be Shanna Tellerman, Founder and CEO of Sim Ops Studios, and Kaye Elling, who has over 12 years of expertise in the games industry. The evening will be presented by Infinitus’ Nicole Mathison, nti’s Leia Bassett and Carbon Imagineering’s Imran Ali.

A pioneer for creative development in 3D environments, Shanna Tellerman has over seven years of experience working in the video game and emerging serious games industry. Since the formation of Sim Ops, Shanna has experienced a variety of roles including her initial involvement as visionary, product manager and designer, focused on user-centered design and research in game development, through to her current role as CEO focused on all levels execution in the company from the product roadmap to business development.

Kaye Elling is a games industry expert, working as an Artist, Lead Artist and Art Manager for Infogrames, Sony, Acclaim & Blitz Games. Her title history includes GTA2 (Take 2), the Premier Manager series (Gremlin), Colony Wars: Red Sun (Sony), Formula 1 (Sony) and most recently the Bratz series (THQ) and The Encleverment Experiment (Blitz), with experience in computer game development for the PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, GameCube, Xbox, Xbox360 consoles, the PC and the Wii.

Kaye’s skill lies in the creation of 2D and 3D graphics for game engines, particularly in character modelling and texturing in Maya and Photoshop, as well as many other aspects of game development and games as a cultural phenomenon. A keen interest in the subject of Women in Games has led Kaye to actively campaign for the recruitment of more women into technology and media careers.
