It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.
It is commonly used to create graphics and logos, resise and crop photos, alter colors, stitch multiple images together, remove unwanted image elements, and to convert between different image formats. GIMP can also be used to create basic animated images in GIF format. Gimp often used as a replacement for Adobe Photoshop.

Anyone who would like to start creatively editing imagesfor the web and print using the open source application Gimp.
You will learn how to:
Download and install Gimp, resize and crop images, change the colours in a image, combine different images together, remove and change a background of a image, work with layers, blend images together, create a web logo, work with masks, use the drawing tools, add text and creatively use filters to enhance images and export to various file formats.
