Day 1
Lesson Description
1 Introduction We spend a few moments to review Linux . We discuss how such a great product can be free and yet, still sustain itself.

We will have a look at the choices and chat about some fundamental differences in the different distributions.

This introduction will set the scene for the practical work.

2 Installation This is a hands on course; so we'll move quickly into practical elements of installing and updating to familiarise you with the user interface from a system administrators perspective,

You will feel comfortable installing additional software and confident with how the files are laid out within the system.

We will also chat about essential tools like text editors and moving files around.
