Understanding the characteristics of digital images is key to successfully deconstructing and editing

Workspace

To make the best use of its extensive editing capabilities, you must first learn to navigate the work area and how to adapt it to your own workflow

Selections

Learning how to select areas of an image is of paramount importance - you must first select what you want to effect

Layers

Isolate different parts of an image in layers. Each of which can then be edited as a disparate element of artwork, allowing tremendous flexibility

Drawing and Painting

Many of the tools found within Photoshop utilise intuitive brush tips and shapes. Understanding how to work with brushes correctly is as important as deploying the correct tool.

6 Masks and Channels Masking is the skill of protecting your images from modifications, as well as changing the visibility of artwork to create montages or to simply extract subject matter from its background

Healing and Retouching

Learn how to correct capture defects and enhance critical parts of an image with Photoshop's 'airbrushing' tools

Vector Tools

Draw vector shapes and paths in your Photoshop images and re-create logos

Filters

Use filters to clean up or re-touch your photos, apply special art effects that give your image the appearance of a sketch or impressionist painting

DAM

Digital Asset Management - DAM - is a term that encapsulates your entire digital image ecosystem and how you work and interact with it

Output

To produce consistent colour, you define the colour space in which to edit and display RGB images, and proof artwork for output to web and print
