Lovebytes has returned to Sheffield in 2010 with a cultural festival for the digital age. The Museums Sheffield:Millennium Gallery forms the hub for a programme of special events between January and June 2010. A season of extraordinary events is taking place at some of Sheffield’s landmark venues and public spaces.

Lovebytes explores the creative impact of computers, new technology and digital culture. The theme for Lovebytes 010 is ‘digital craft’, looking at creative digital culture in context of traditional art and craft. (more…)

On Thursday 28th January, the first Creative Networks of 2010 presents internationally acclaimed speaker and photographer, Martin Parr.

Martin Parr is probably one of the most influential living British Photographers still working today. With over fifty books and countless exhibitions, Parr is known for his lurid and sometimes shocking use of colour in photography, and his satirical witty approach to documentary photography leaves the viewer not sure whether to laugh or cry. Echochroma will be presenting an evening of electroacoustic music from 5pm on Monday 14th December.

Leeds Met Headingley Campus will be hosting the concert in the Jubilee Room, James Graham Building. Featured guest composers include Manuella Blackburn (MANTIS, Manchester University) and Dale Perkins (Leeds College of Music). Leeds Met Innovation North staff will also perform music, including Adam Stansbie, Nikos Stavropoulos and Stephen Kilpatrick.

All music will be performed using a 16-channel surround-sound diffusion system. This event has limited space so please arrive early to find an available seat.

Inspiral is teaming up with the world’s leading digital media and leadership educator, Hyper Island, to run two unique training courses in Yorkshire & Humber throughout January and February 2010. Agile Yorkshire have announced that the end of year special gathering will be held next month at Old Broadcasting House on Wednesday 9 December from 6.30pm onwards. Agile Yorkshire will gather together IT professionals in and around Yorkshire for a Christmas special with guest speaker David Joyce presenting on Kanban for Software Engineering, and how the principle of Kanban and Lean can also result in becoming Agile.

On Thursday 3rd December, GameHorizon and Northern Film & Media will present Creative Collision - where the games and film industries meet. The collaborative event will be held at the International Centre for Life, Times Square, Newcastle, starting at 5.30pm.
