Girl Geeks at Old Broadcasting House
On Monday 6th February we’re hosting an informal Girl Geek Dinner here at Old Broadcasting House. Our guest speaker is New Media artist Megan Smith, and we’ll be screening of Top Secret Rosies, the true story of WW2’s “female” computers.

Ignite is back!
Great news - Ignite is back! On 2nd February we’re hosting another evening of lightning talks where each speaker has five minutes and 20 slides - and no control over when the slides advance! If you’ve been before, you’ll know its a fast paced run thorough a range of topics loosely linked to tech. If you haven’t then we recommend you come along for an entertaining evening. Our speakers have the courage to get up and speak and about a subject they are passionate about. 4 Talent Inspiration Day
Are you aged 16 - 24? Do you want to work in the media industry and are full of ideas? Do you want to get ahead, combine your passion with all the skills you can lay your hands on, meet the people in the industry and start building your networks? Then this Inspiration Day on Wednesday 22nd February is for you.
Helping people to develop their skills and and make connections is what we love doing and Old Broadcasting House somehow seems to be the perfect place where these things happen. That’s why we’re really excited about being asked to host this event.

Open Coffee, Coworking and Kinect
November 2011 is the month of Leeds Digital Festival, and to mark that, this month’s Open Coffee, starting at 10 am, will also also invite you to find out more about coworking. Meet the coworkers and find out how being a member of the Old Broadcasting House community works for them. There’ll also be a showcase of coworker Richard England’s Kinect experiments which recently gained the attention of Microsoft. Culture Hack North at Old Broadcasting House
We’re big fans of events where people come together to do amazing things with technology, so we’re pleased to be partners in the first ever Culture Hack North which we’re hosting here at Old Broadcasting House on 12th and 13th November. And this will be a major landmark for us - our first ever OBH sleepover!

We’re pleased to be working with the West Yorkshire Linux User Group to host a very special guest lecture.
On the evening of 23rd August, international award-winning ‘crusader for the freedoms of computer users’ Dr Richard Stallman will be in Leeds to give a guest lecture which we’re hosting here at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Leeds Tester Gathering 26th May
nti is hosting the very first Leeds Tester Gathering on the 26th May here at Old Broadcasting House.
The evening will start at 18.00 with networking followed by announcements, (vacancies, training courses or other interesting information for testers), a presentation on a salient testing topic lasting no more than 40 mins and finally more networking in a very friendly atmosphere, finishing the evening at 21.00 (more…)

Computing Showcase 12th May
Here’s a great talent spotting opportunity - The second annual Computing Showcase is being held on the 12th of May at Leeds Metropolitan University’s Rose Bowl building. There will be the opportunity to view innovative student projects and presentations by Leeds Metropolitan Universities final year Computing students.
WePublish 11th May 6pm - 9pm - What did the digital revolution ever do for journalism?
We’re hosting the second WePublish event here at Old Broadcasting House on 11th May.If you came along in January, then it would be great to see you again. If you’re new to WePublish, these events are aimed at everyone who produces content - for their own blog, community or charity web site, company web sites. There’s an awful lot of us doing that.
Android taster evening- 13th April 2011
We had such great feedback from our iPhone apps taster evening that we’ve planned another one on similar lines - but this time it’s all about building an Android app.
Developers- come along to Old Broadcasting House on Wednesday 13th April and take part in this two hour workshop, where you’ll get an overview of the development process for Android apps, and then have a go yourself - so bring along your laptop. The evening will be presented by Patrick Ingham and Carl Whalley, who deliver the Google Android Apps training course
The evening begins at 6:00pm with refreshments, with the workshop starting at 6:30pm. We’ll aim to finish at 8:30pm.

Introduction to iOS - developing apps for iPhone and iPad
Build an app in an evening. Come along to Old Broadcasting House on Tuesday 22nd February for an introduction to iOS development for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Much more fun than Eastenders!
We’ll start off the evening with an overview of the hardware and software capabilities of the iOS devices, followed by a run down of the kind of things that are possible through the iOS SDK* as well as a tour around the development tools that developers use every day to create the apps you know and love.
Your presenter for the evening is Dave Verwer, of Shiny Development, an experienced app developer and trainer, and all-round great guy. Dave delivers the four day iOS Developer Training course here at nti Leeds.

TEDXChange - The Future We Make 20th September 2010
There’s a live TEDxChange webcast on 20th September at 4:00 pm at Leeds Met’s Rosebowl building. More details and booking can be found here. There’ll also be a chance to find out more about TEDxLeeds, scheduled for 10th November.
TEDx Sheffield last week was really good so we’re hoping that the Leeds event will be even better and we’d recommend keeping the evening of 10th November free to make sure you don’t miss it.
