PHP NW - a different way to spend a Saturday

I was really impressed by the PHP NW conference on Saturday. There were 180 people that came along for the great line up of speakers. For a conference of this quality, the price of £50 was pretty good value for money. nti Leeds were there as a sponsor, so we had a stand and also provided a mini-bus from Old Broadcasting House over to the conference venue for Leeds based delegates. We met lots of great people there. It was good to meet MadeByPi who are from Leeds. I have been hearing a lot about them recently and they were flying the flag for our region at the DADI Awards in October. Also had a good chat with Matt from Leeds based web design and development company Kilo75 .

We have persuaded Monica Tailor, their marketing director, to speak at the Leeds Girl Geek Dinner next week and I’m really looking forward to her talk. We also met some guys from Just Search Ltd, who were really well represented. Thanks for the Wordpress SEO tips guys.

Personally I really enjoyed the Drupal session, we have been piloting a new site recently that will be used for the new Open Source project site. Developers love it. There was a good deal of interest in the nti’s Open Source project and the new Zend courses, we got some great feedback about our plans and in fact we have our first employer forum later today here at Old Broadcasting House, which will start to shape what happens next. Look forward to PHP ‘North’ 09, Leeds would be a great location for this! Thanks to the organisers, including Jeremey, Jenny and colleagues from Allegis, Lorna from iBuildings and lots more people who all did a really great job.
